Industry First From Laird Enables Greater In-Building Wireless Capacity

Laird Launches Two New Antenna Products Enabling Superior Performance in Very Different Environments

Global technology leader Laird (LRD: London), today launches two new antenna solutions, including an industry first. With applications including commercial, industrial, and the Internet of Things (IoT), these antennas are the result of extensive investment in research, customer feedback, and comprehensive testing.

Industry First

In high traffic environments like hospitals, warehouses, and office buildings, reliable and fast data and voice connections are crucial to a productive workplace. “Single or dual port antennas in the marketplace today do not always adequately support robust, reliable data and voice communications in a high traffic areas,” says Monty Rohde Senior Vice President of Infrastructure Antenna Systems for Laird. “We set out to engineer an industry leading solution to increase in-building performance for both data and voice services.”

The result is the CMQ69273P Antenna. With its thin, low-profile design, this ceiling mounted antenna  offers complete cellular 3G/ 4G LTE data communication at every one of its 4-ports. This means in a properly engineered wireless system, the CMQ antenna enables workers in high traffic commercial and industrial complexes to enjoy increased voice and data performance with unmatched signal integrity provided by Laird.

Internet of Things

With its second product release today, Laird is also enabling exciting new opportunities within emerging Machine to Machine (M2M) IoT applications.

“The IoT revolution is not just for consumers. Companies now need to interact with and control their equipment in real-time. The absence of these capabilities can have a substantial commercial impact,” says Rohde. The challenge is that many of these environments include moisture, dust, and other potential hazards for electronics.

So Laird engineers designed the HCR line of antennas. These are extremely rugged antennas with a low profile design which offer superior performance. Rohde explains, “We like to say the HCR line of Antennas can go almost anywhere a machine can go and still provide clear, reliable data communications.”

The new HCR6927 3G/ 4G LTE Rotatable Shell Omnidirectional Antenna is ready for the worst conditions. It is rated for temporary water immersion, can withstand temperatures from -40 degrees to 70 degrees Celsius, and offers a variety of vandal resistant mounting options.

The HCR antenna platform provides frequency agility, low visibility, wide bandwidth and a low angle radiation pattern which is superior to traditional gain antennas is most applications. This makes it ideal for M2M system applications within the commercial, industrial, transportation, energy, utility, retail and financial industries.

They can operate in the 698 to 960 MHz or 1710 to 2700 MHz frequency ranges while the HCR8065 LTE Rotatable Shell Omnidirectional Antenna functions in the 806 to 960 MHz or 1710 to 2200 MHz frequency ranges. You can learn more by clicking here.

This is the first antenna in the market to offer low passive inter-modulation or PIM with 4-port Multi-Input, Multi-Output or MIMO. As Laird’s newest edition to the indoor distributed antenna system or iDAS product portfolio, the antenna features advanced design techniques and special materials, which minimize interference and improve in-building wireless network coverage as well as capacity.

The Laird CMQ69273P Low PIM 4-port MIMO Ceiling Mount Omnidirectional Antenna functions in the 698 to 960MHz or 1710 to 2700 MHz frequency ranges. The line of antennas is engineered to accommodate a variety of ceiling configurations and while providing optimal radiation within the coverage zone.
